Details

Minimum Order: 1 case (12 x 1 lb bags) Also known as “old-fashioned oats,” our regular rolled oats are a good source of iron and dietary fiber and contain 7% DV of thiamine, which is a critical nutrient to energy metabolism. Interestingly, the soluble fiber in oats attaches to cholesterol molecules and transports them out of the body rather than being absorbed into the bloodstream, which can help lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. As a low glycemic food, incorporating oatmeal made with regular rolled oats as a consistent part of one’s diet can also help stabilize blood sugar and weight (by helping you feel fuller longer), which can lower the risk of diabetes or help control the condition. Regular rolled oats are not rolled as thinly as quick oats, so they cook slower and are the common recommendation for recipes that use oats as an ingredient.

Cooking Instructions

Use our regular rolled oats as instructed in recipes, or follow these directions to make classic, hearty oatmeal: 1 serving = 1 cup milk or water + ½ cup oats + pinch of salt (optional) 2 servings = 2 cups milk or water + 1 cup oats + ¼ tsp. salt (optional) Bring liquid to a boil in a medium-size, heavy-bottomed pot. Add oats and salt (if using), reduce heat to medium-low, and cook for 10-20 minutes, depending on number of servings. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Remove from heat, cover, and let rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy topped with maple syrup, fresh fruit, yogurt, almond butter, Farmer Direct Co-op Hulled Hempseed or Milled Flaxseed, or any combination thereof.

Storage

Oats readily absorb odors, so for long-term storage, it’s recommended to store oats in an airtight glass container. Keep in a cool, dry place for 6 months (or up to 1 year if stored at less than 75 degrees F).
